SA Power Networks are seeking changes to the regulations that govern the clearance of vegetation near powerlines. Amongst a suite of proposed changes, SA Power Networks is seeking the power to remove trees under powerlines, and we are concerned about the circumstances in which this would take place. We also strongly disagree with SA Power Networks seeking exemption from providing offsets for native vegetation that it removes.

Comments on draft Outback Bushfire Management Area Plan

We supported the assessment of risk posed by bushfire to environmental assets in this draft plan, and also the explicit acknowledgment of the effects of Buffel grass in increasing fuel loads and therefore the impacts of fire on biodiversity. We suggested a number of improvements to the draft plan, however, including better addressing the requirements for fire management areas designated as Conservation Zones.
